Yes, the movie buff in me is crying out for attention... and Darren shall answer...
A few movies have come to my attention which are in my must watch list for the season, and I urge everyone who reads this and are interested to come and join me as well in this Celluloid Celebration !!!
First movie,
Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa

I'm not much of a Malaysian film buff, I am a supporter of good films. Therefore usually my cinematic instincts will forgo any blind patriotism towards Malaysian films. I do not watch Malaysian films just to support them. Come to think of it, most of the Malaysian films I watched were paid by others, like Kinta, and Tiger WooHoo. The only Malaysian film I remembered watching and paying for was Puteri Gunung Ledang, because I believed that the movie would be good and that there was potential in it. Of course the outcome was so so, but the Malaysian in me will say that it was a nicely made high budgeted movie with nice effects but with slight cinematography setbacks and choppy dialogues.
I was very skeptical about this movie as well. But every once in a blue moon, the Malaysian in me will cry out and I will heed it's cries. It makes sense that I would be even slightly curious to watch this movie seeing as too how high the budget was thrown in to create this movie.
I am just curious as how everything would turn out to be. The worst that could happen is that it would be like that Thai Langkasuka movie, and if Malaysians would watch that, why not our own...
Second movie to watch.
Rango

Rango is one movie that grows on you, even before you watch it.
I've seen the trailers before hand. And it's just weird. The whole lizard in Texas is just not really convincing to me, or perhaps I was just not in the mood for it. But lately, after watching the 2nd trailer and even a short clip on the shooting of the movie, I believe we may have something special on our hands.
And so, I will watch it.
Third movie,
The King's Speech and The Fighter

For these 2 movies, I put them side by side because I want to watch it but not now.
Fact is both movies are great movies, both with winner's in the latest Academy Awards, and for certain, both are what I'd call "Heavy" Movies...
"Heavy" movies are just movies which to me are long and takes a lot of time to enjoy and just listen and digest, and for now, I can't handle it. I find myself rather tired these days so I'm all up for comedies and action films.
But I am still interested to watch it, perhaps in one of my alone, contemplation times will I go and watch these films...
Before I end this entry today, I am excited to announce that Conan the Barbarian movie teaser trailer is finally online.

Anyone who knows me well enough , knows that I have always been a huge fan of the Conan character, and I mean the sword slashing one, not the Japanese short midget detective.
If the young of today reads Twilight, Harry Potter, or even Dungeons and Dragons, then mine would be Robert E. Howard's Conan chronicles.
I have to admit the first time I was exposed to the whole Conan lore was in my younger days. Days of which there was still the Dunhill movie special on TV2. I remembered vividly the final scenes of which the evil wizard turned into an ugly monster or rather an ape like one, similar to the stories of "Rouges in the House". And even the final scene in which when a horn was attached to a statue, it turned into a huge sea creaure, in which Conan had to kill it by removing the horn.
Such were the stories of Conan. But as I grew, I started reading the novels, written by Robert E. Howard, and I realised Conan was so much more. He climbed mountains, and trees like a panther, moved swiftly in the jungle without the sound of a crushed leaf, slept in the snow bare naked and so on...
The Conan depicted in the movies, played respectively by Arnold, somewhat fit the description, but anyone with the right mind could tell you, he was too slow to run swiftly or even too heavy to climb trees or mountains. No, Arnold did not look like a man born in the battlefield but instead looked like a man who trained for bodybuilding. One such example I could give is King Leonidas in 300, played by Gerard Butler, now he was quick and swift, someone who could do real damage in the battlefield. Which is why I was happy with the choice that they made selecting the new actor Jason Mamoa for the role of Conan, my first choice has always been Dwayne"The Rock" Johnson, but hey... this is good enough.
So I leave you with this teaser trailer of Conan the Barbarian.
