Firstly, Congratulations to both Yvonne and Ernest on their wedding !!!
Had the opportunity to celebrate this joyous occasion with them last Saturday. The first among our group to be married,Yvonne has always been the gung ho one about getting married. Perhaps it was the fact that she was the only girl in the group, not that there were no other girls gracing their presence in our small little band of misfits, but she was the one with permanent membership...
Funerals and weddings... all of which , interestingly led me to Cheras, what's up with that?
Looking around, more and more of my friends are getting married, there will be at least 3 more that I have to attend this year itself. Well, better weddings than funerals I guess. Few things came across my mind as I contemplate these events (weddings I mean)...
One, I am not young anymore. Sooner or later , the bitter truth of our temporary residency in this place we call earth will start to sink in. Not that this has never occurred to me before, but every once in a while, we are reminded of the time we have in this world, or rather the lack of it.
Don't get me wrong, I am not going to rush into a relationship just for the sake of "running together with the crowd", but it's good to know that one has reached a certain stage in their life, and to me, marriage is one of them.
But enough of that, one can never finish talking about relationships. So just leave it at that... haha...
Just to add a little to the point above, everything that we have is temporary, yes, even what we have now, till death do us part, remember... Which makes the relationship that we have with Jesus Christ all the more important, all the more intimate. For we have been promised everlasting life, to be with Him in glory and fellowship... Amen
Went to Taipan for some errands. It has been awhile since I've been to Taipan. For those of you who don't know this, I used to stay at USJ 11, which is right across Taipan for the first 4 years of my life here in Selangor. My uncle provided the house and food, and all I had to do was be there. Such a life of a student. I am currently looking for a new place I can call "my habitat" and it somehow led me back to Taipan. After visiting said house, we (myself and Tim) decided to have our dinner in Taipan itself.
Immediately, memories came flushing in. All those years as a TOA student, even my life as a lecturer, the travels from Sunway, the yellow buses, the traffic, the solo walks I use to have in Summit and the solo trips to KL. It all came back to me in that short walk.
I like Taipan, in a sense, it has a lot of things, but having stayed here in Sunway here for about 2 years now, I sort of prefer Sunway. I like the freedom and the ability to just walk to Pyramid as I like. The fact that home is so close to church. The fact that Starbucks is just 2-3 minutes away, by foot.
As I walked pass the shops that I used to enter, I came across this particular shop that I was so fond of, a pirated DVD store. I do not know who the owner was, neither do I know the name sof the workers, but there was one particular worker who was always friendly to me, I'd visit the store often and he'd know me well enough to know the kind of movies or even the genres I like, he knwos that if I don't have enough money to buy the dvds, I can always come back to pay him, cause he knows I am good for it. Such comradeship is hard to find. Perhaps he was just a smart businessman, but those were good times. Having said that those days are long gone, no longer do I enter said shop and buy all that I can buy, no longer do I enter said shop and find movies that I would hardly watch yet buy them to study different genres of it.
"Hey, long time no see, been a while, go ahead, find what you like, can give you discounts again."
I smirked, a bit... Nah.. not this time, perhaps not ever. Gone were the days...
I left my old life, I don't really feel like going back there again. Perhaps I will in the future, but not yet...
I'd like to leave you all with Clara C and Joesph Vincent's cover of Rhythm of Love by Plain White T's .. been listening to this song, and this cover is just, well.. fun..Enjoy...
God bless you all...
