Prayer of Sir Francis Drake
Disturb us, Lord, when We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.
Chris Lee shared this to us during one of our Staff Meetings at HTB few weeks ago, I felt really strongly that I should share this with everyone. My first instinct was to first share this when I go back to FCC, Malaysia, but today I feel I should spread this everywhere as much as I can.
I feel very strongly that God wants us to be more than we can be, to do more than we can do. It's not that we are incapable, usually we're just really comfortable. Comfortable in where we are, what we do.
" Oh, it's ok God, I am alright where I am, no I don't want to be involved in those things, let's just stick to what I know here, I'm good here."
This prayer by Sir Francis, is something that I am usually afraid of. it's that first step that you take, and once you take it, you know it's too late to turn back. But God has chosen us to be leaders, and to be leaders, we should always be in front. Any leader who refuses to move, will find his or her followers waiting at the back, never having the chance to move on.
A church that is comfortable, having a pastor who is comfortable, will find the church going no where.Sometimes, there are followers who realise this, and they have had enough of it, they decided to move on, to break free and move ahead of the leader, but not being the leader, never having the understanding, the adequate know how of things, he ends up in the middle of no where , lost and confused. And if anyone thought of the same, they'll follow that man as well, and they will all end up lost, lost in the desert, going round and round until they dry up.
Coming back to the unmovable leader in the church, that church will end up spiritually dry. Yes, some may argue, God's work will never stop, and that is true. But if we won't do it, God just might never use us again. Logically speaking, a useless hand phone charger should be thrown away and replaced with a new one.
I am afraid of that. I am afraid that one day, it is enough, that my life is enough, that what I am doing for God is enough, and I will be content.
I refuse to be content. Even from a non Christian point of view, being content leaves you without a fight. I am always fighting with my weight issues, because if I quit or nicely put, if I am content, that's it then. Imagine if you quit breathing... Obviously that's not a good metaphor, but fat fighting should be a good one. hahahaha...
1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
And it's true, a lion would not attack unless the pray is relaxed and thinks it's safe. Don't believe me watch National Geographic again, wait, I think it should be Discovery Channel now.There you go, something to share to everyone.
That's it for now, Till next time, God bless!!!

Great post there little great brother. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to be grateful for what He has given me, what He gives to me, and what He will give to me. And always aim for the best, for that is what God wants of us.
And you look ok the way you are. Haha
